From Our Toronto Studio to the Royal Canadian Mint: A New Chapter for CITRUS

By Trish Houghtling, Owner & Creative Director, CITRUS.

A Canadian jewelry brand celebrating the places, people and stories that connect us.

Some milestones deserve more than a passing mention.

We're incredibly proud to share that CITRUS, our Toronto-based handcrafted jewelry brand, has partnered with The Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa and Winnipeg to introduce Postcards from Canada, an exclusive collection of sterling silver keepsakes paired with commissioned artwork by Toronto artist Kathryn Boyd.

Created specifically for our institutional retail partners, the collection brings together Canadian craftsmanship, art and the landscapes that connect us.

And as it turns out, this was just the beginning.

Our collection has already received an enthusiastic response, with repeat orders from the Mint, and we've since been invited to bring Postcards from Canada to another Canadian landmark: the iconic Fairmont Château Laurier.

For a small Canadian jewelry studio, these are big moments. And we're celebrating every one of them.

A Love Letter to Canada, Made in Sterling Silver

Canada has a way of staying with you.

It's the places we grew up, the summers we remember, the landscapes that take our breath away and the destinations that somehow become part of our personal stories.

That sense of connection inspired Postcards from Canada, a collection of handcrafted sterling silver necklaces celebrating the beauty and character of this country.

From the rugged coastlines of British Columbia to the Rocky Mountains, the Northern Lights, Ontario's Algonquin wilderness and the shores of Atlantic Canada, each design captures a little piece of somewhere worth remembering.

But these aren't ordinary souvenirs.

Each necklace is handcrafted in our Toronto studio using traditional jewelry-making techniques, and paired with a framable art print commissioned from Toronto artist Kathryn Boyd.

Together, the jewelry and artwork create something more lasting: a keepsake that celebrates a place, a memory or a connection to Canada.

A little piece of home, wherever life takes you.

From Our Workbench to the Royal Canadian Mint

There's something particularly meaningful about seeing Canadian-made jewelry represented at the Royal Canadian Mint.

The Mint is internationally recognized for its craftsmanship, artistry and role in telling Canada's stories through coins and commemorative pieces.

At CITRUS, we approach jewelry with a similar appreciation for the details that make an object meaningful.

Our sterling silver pieces are made in small batches in Toronto. We work with traditional tools, carefully finish each piece by hand and believe that craftsmanship is something you should be able to see, feel and appreciate.

The opportunity to bring Postcards from Canada to the Mint felt like a natural meeting of those values.

And seeing the collection so warmly received has been especially rewarding.

What began with five designs has grown into an expanded collection featuring Canadian destinations including Halifax, Tofino, Churchill, Banff and Algonquin.

Each new design gives us another opportunity to celebrate the extraordinary places that make this country what it is.

And Then Came Château Laurier

As someone who grew up in Ottawa, the Fairmont Château Laurier has always held a special place in my heart.

I remember going there for tea with my mother. Years later, I returned as a newlywed.

It's one of those buildings that feels woven into the history of a city, and into your own memories of it.

So when the opportunity came to create a collection for the hotel, it felt particularly special.

Alongside our Canadian landscape designs, we developed an exclusive necklace inspired by Château Laurier and the historic Rideau Canal locks, featuring a sterling silver gear charm.

It's a small tribute to the engineering, architecture and history that make Ottawa such a remarkable place.

And it's exactly the kind of project we love: taking something meaningful and translating it into jewelry that tells a story.

Canadian Craftsmanship Is Worth Celebrating

CITRUS was founded in 2007 with a simple belief: jewelry should mean something.

Today, nearly twenty years later, that belief remains at the heart of everything we make.

Our studio specializes in personalized jewelry, handcrafted sterling silver keepsakes and designs that celebrate the people, places and moments that shape our lives. Read About Us.

Some pieces carry names or initials. Others mark important dates, coordinates or words that mean something to the person wearing them.

And some, like Postcards from Canada, celebrate the places we call home.

As a woman-owned Canadian business, we're proud to work with local artists, preserve hands-on craftsmanship and create jewelry that is made to be worn and treasured for years.

We're equally proud to see that work finding new audiences through partnerships with Canadian institutions.

Because Canadian craftsmanship deserves to be seen.

Twenty Years of CITRUS. And We're Just Getting Started.

In March 2027, CITRUS celebrates its 20th anniversary.

It's an extraordinary milestone for a small independent jewelry brand, and one we're approaching with excitement, ambition and a growing sense of possibility.

The Royal Canadian Mint and Fairmont Château Laurier partnerships represent an important chapter in our story, but they're also a reminder of what can happen when creativity, craftsmanship and opportunity come together.

We're building a Canadian jewelry brand with a story worth telling.

And we have plenty more stories to tell.

Made in Toronto. Inspired by Canada. Made to mean something.

The Postcards from Canada collection is available exclusively through our participating retail partners, including the Royal Canadian Mint and Fairmont Château Laurier.
